Peterborough residents interested in learning the latest plans for the new fire station and municipal campus on Elm Street may participate in an open house and a public meeting this weekend.
The town is currently drawing up conceptual plans for the new fire station and a future municipal campus on the Elm Street parcel that currently houses the DPW garage and Community Center, with a strong focus on accommodating future needs and shared resources. In the future, thereโs potential for expanding the Community Center, and relocating the Police Department and other town offices to the site, according to an announcement from the town. ย
An open house at the existing fire station on Summer Street is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. so residents can โDrop-in to see the facility deficiencies for yourself,โ according to an announcement from the town. The next day, Sunday, Aug. 22, town officials and the Peterborough Fire Station Municipal Campus Task force are scheduled to discuss the municipal campus project at a public meeting at 3 p.m. at the Community Center on Elm Street.
Talks of a municipal campus on Elm Street date back to a 2005 municipal needs study.
