The Wilton Select Board approved $22,500 in engineering work for the dam at Frog Pond, with expectations of a warrant article requesting additional funds for repairs to the dam.
During its meeting Monday, the board selected a bid for $22,500 from SLR Consulting to do an engineering consultation on the dam, which is on town-owned land.
The board had not anticipated the expense during the budgeting season for 2021, and will have to use funds unexpended from this year’s budget, but did not determine exactly where those funds would be pulled from in their discussions Monday night.
The town does currently have a capital reserve set aside for dam repairs, but the fund is earmarked specifically for repairs for the reservoir dam, which has also been identified as in need of repairs. It is possible to change the purpose of the fund to include other dam repairs in town, but it would take a vote of Town Meeting to do so.
