Starting June 1, the Wilton Town Hall and town clerk and tax collector’s offices will be open by appointment.

This is the first step in a phased reopening plan agreed upon by the board and town clerk this week.

Starting June 1, the clerk and tax collector’s office, as well as the land use and building department will reopen by appointment during regular business hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Customers can still conduct business online, through the drop-box, or by phone or internet.

The Select Board’s office has remained open throughout the pandemic with COVID-19 protocols in place, and will remain open.

The town clerk will be available for in-person vehicle registrations, vehicle plate transfers, marriage licenses, voter registration, and notary services. All other transactions will continue to be done remotely by mail, phone, drop-box or online. Additional in-person transactions will continue to be added as the reopening plan rolls out.

“We do anticipate fully reopening at some point. We don’t want this to be forever,” Town Clerk Jane Farrell said.

Customers must be on time. Customers who arrive late for appointments will not be permitted in the building. Masks continue to be required on town properties while indoors. Accommodations will be made to complete all business outside for customers who cannot or will not wear a mask. Residents are asked not to come to Town Hall if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
