The Bennington Conservation Commission is sponsoring two Bennington students to attend a week-long camp at the Harris Center this summer.

Do you love being outdoors in nature? If so, then going to camp can be an exciting way to spend a week of your summer vacation. Wandering the woods, learning to paddle a canoe, paddling rivers and ponds, following brooks, climbing mountain peaks, exploring for signs of early settlers, hiking trails, spying bald eagles and loons, and finding out how to be in the woods in a low-impact manner are all things you can do this summer if you live in Bennington and you will be going into grades 4 through 7 next year.

The Bennington Conservation Commission believes it is important to foster a love for the flora and fauna of the woods, lakes, rivers and the environment that surrounds us.

This year marks the fifth year that the Commission is sponsoring two Bennington students to attend a Harris Center camp in Hancock this summer free of charge. Two students will be selected for the Rovers program during the week of July 5-9.

Applications for the camperships are available at the Bennington Dodge Library during regular business hours. The applications are due at Bennington Town Hall by Friday, April 27.
