Wilton has created a new position for a deputy town administrator, and promoted Administrative Assistant Janice Pack to the position.

The board has been notified by its current Town Administrator Paul Branscombe that he intends to retire at the end of 2021.

During the Select Board meeting on Monday, Select Board Chair Matt Fish said the creation of the position was to allow โ€œprovide operational flexibility.โ€ When asked if the intent was to train Pack for the position of town administrator when Branscombe leaves, Fish said the town still intended to go through with a job search process.

โ€œNo decision has been made about this yet,โ€ he said, about the possibility of Pack taking up the town administrator position in 10 months.

As part of her new position, Pack received a pay increase of about 4.1 percent, which Fish said used, in part, the salary of the town administrator, which was offered by Branscombe.

In other town news, the board also discussed creating an official social media policy for the management of the townโ€™s official Facebook and other social media in the future.

Jackie Kahle, who assists in the management of the townโ€™s website and social media, spoke to the board about the current uses for the townโ€™s social media. Kahle told the board the Facebook page is a useful notification tool, as those subscribed to it receive the notifications in real time, as opposed to having to seek out news on the townโ€™s website.

The town currently uses the Facebook for notifications, and does not allow comments.

The board agreed to craft an official policy for the townโ€™s social media use.

The board also confirmed its schedule for Town Meeting, after agreeing to delay the Town Meeting portion during its meeting last week. Ballot voting will continue as originally scheduled at the Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative High School on March 9. Voting includes the election of officers for both the town and school district, as well as all zoning articles.

A Candidateโ€™s Night for both town and school positions is scheduled for March 2 at 7 p.m., hosted by the Wilton Lions Club. The forum will be held on Zoom. Sign in information is available at the townโ€™s website wiltonnh.gov.

The remaining items on the Wilton warrant are scheduled for Town Meeting voting at the town field outside of the Florence Rideout Elementary School on June 10 at 6:30 p.m. If there is inclement weather, a rain date of June 17 at 6:30 p.m. has been set
