The Town of Peterborough postponed the upcoming deliberative session and town meeting due to the current bans on large public gatherings.

The deliberative session has been postponed to June 16 at 7 p.m.  at the Peterborough Town House. The deliberative session, Peterborough’s lead-up to the May Town Meeting, was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 7. Ballot voting at the Community Center and Town Meeting at the Town House, are postponed to July 14 and 15 respectively; they were originally set for May 12 and 13.

Deputy Town Administrator Nicole MacStay said the town chose the July dates based on the information and guidance they’d been receiving from the state regarding closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Absentee ballots have always been an option for voting, MacStay said. “If there is still a coronavirus concern as we get towards July, we will absolutely be pointing people in that direction,” she said on Friday.
