Mascenic’s Landen Vaillancourt took third overall – and best of the NHIAA’s smaller schools – to lead local competitors at the Division II indoor track and field championships at Dartmouth on Sunday. 

The Viking junior finished in 4:14.65, edging out Coe-Brown’s Aidan Cox (4:15.42) for third place and finishing only behind winner Andy O’Brien of Oyster River (4:10.88) and runner-up Caleb Korthals of Milford (4:12.85). 

Oyster River won the team competition on the boys’ side.

ConVal senior Harrison Kim had a good day in the 3,000M run, finishing fifth in 9:13.62, about eight-and-a-half seconds better than his qualifying time. 

The Conant boys’ 4x800M relay team of Matt Bernier, Ethan Weinhold, Ethan Vitello and Chris Taylor made the podium, finishing in fifth place in 8:32.83, behind Coe-Brown, Bow, Hanover and Oyster River. In the same race, ConVal’s team of Tyler Beard, Thomas Sennett, Abe Dreher and August Kotula finished eighth in 8:57.73.

Vitello also raced the 600M run, finishing ninth in 1:30.38.

Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Brooke Lane was the lone local female competitor. She finished eighth in the 1,500M run in 5:16.64.
