To the editor:
Mr. Huberman’s Jan 28th letter asks me to explain global warming not caused by humans. Earth’s surface temperature varies due to several parameters, some predictable, such as variations in Earth’s distance from the Sun and tilt, some unpredictable such as volcanic eruptions and variations in the Sun’s intensity. Earth’s surface could become cooler or warmer in the next decades in continuing response to those parameters regardless of mankind’s activities. I’m not arguing that warming/cooling has not or will not occur. It is that the “science” supporting the notion mankind is to blame for significant harm is corrupted by self-interests and bolstered with false arguments/data. (see Sussman: Climategate)
Earth, as a whole, on a geologic time scale, is cooling, not warming. This is because the Earth became a molten mass after the collision of two planets that spun off our present day Earth and Moon. Matter has heat capacity, especially iron, which dominates Earth’s core still at temperatures estimated up to 10,800 F. Heat flows from matter of higher temperature towards that of lower temperature . In the case of Earth, it has been flowing from the hotter core to the cooler surface and, ultimately, space for billions of years and will likely continue to do so, gradually lowering Earth’s bulk and surface temperatures as it’s store of energy is depleted.
Citizens Climate Lobby advocates“Carbon Fee and Dividend.” This wealth redistribution scheme, founded upon climate alarmism, is, I believe, at the very heart of Marxism: robbing Peter to Pay Paul to advance a coup d’etat to replace democratic government with the opposite to the benefit only of the usurpers. With our education, media and entertainment establishments thoroughly infected with Marxist propagandists, our youth are unprepared to preserve our relatively free society for themselves and posterity.
