A New Years Eve chimney fire was quickly extinguished Tuesday night on Route 45 in Temple.
Fire Chief George Clark said the Fire Department received a call around 9 p.m. that a wood stove pipe was glowing red on 107 Senator Tobey Highway.
He said the responders removed everything from the woodstove and cleaned out the tee in the pipe to clear it. Clark said the residents had only moved into the house in September, and had the chimney cleaned before they started the wood stove for the first time.
“They did everything they should have, but the wood was not as seasoned as it could have been,” he said.
