While more than a dozen homes lit up for Greenville’s now-annual Light Up Greenville competition, only a select few got the coveted visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus last week, pronouncing them the winners of the contest’s three categories.

The winner of the “Griswold” category, poking gentle fun at the over-the-top decorating featured on the Griswold house in “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, ”celebrated the most elaborate displays. The winner of the category was 11 Adams Avenue, with second place going to 100 Adams Hill Road, and 70 Main Street taking third.

The first place for “Yankee” style decoration, including houses decorated with white lights and evergreens, went to 7 Old Mason Center Road, with 9 Chamberlin Street coming second and 80 Mill Street third.

The best “Winter” decoration was awarded to 84 Laurel Drive, with 122 Temple Road taking runner up and 74 Adams Hill Road taking third.
