The “Bicknell” bridge on Russell Station Road in Francestown will be closed for replacement for the next two weeks.
“It’ll be difficult for some people,” Town Administrator Jamie Pike said Monday. “There are quite a few commuters,” he said.
Pike said he has personally reached out to everyone on Russell Station Road in advance of the closure, which creates a 17-mile detour.
Pike said the town had been planning to replace the bridge for about three years. The severity of Monday’s storm postponed the closure by a day, he said, but did not anticipate weather being a factor for the rest of the two weeks it’s estimated to take to replace the timber bridge.
The bridge spans Rand Brook, east of Cressy Hill Road.
