Francestown Fire Chief Larry Kullgren was among emergency personnel who helped to lift a down horse Tuesday afternoon.
He said the Fire Department was summoned to the scene just before 4 p.m., when the large workhorse had been on the ground for about six hours with colic complications. Kullgren said he received help from the New Boston Fire Department, as well as that of Bedford, which brought large lifting straps they retain specifically for large animals.
The assembly got the horse back on its feet on Tuesday night, but Kullgren said he returned Wednesday morning to help right the animal again. โThe prognosis is not the best,โ he said.
โWe do what we can for people. We respond to an endless amount of requests,โ he said, many far beyond motor vehicle crashes and fires.
