“We made it for the Hancock Old Home Day parade,” said general manager Anthony Guadagno on Wednesday.
The dog was modeled after owner George Loahmiller’s beagle Shiloh, Guadagno said.
It cruised Hancock’s parade route on a skid steer, and a puppeteer inside made the mouth open and close, and a hind leg rise and fall.
The float, called “Who’s Walking Who,” won the grand prize for the parade this year.
Guadagno said the landscaping company has been making extravagant floats for Old Home Day four years in a row.
Entries from previous years, including a rocket and a big mouth bass, have just sat around their shop after the event.
This year it took them about a week to complete their float.
“We put all this time in, we might as well show it off,” he said.
