There have been more than one mass shooting per day this year! (CBS News) With Trump considering and waffling on background checks and being influenced by NRA on one side and his concern after two more mass shootings and his wish for approval on the other, now seems a very opportune time to send a simple email to the White House asking him to signal to Mitch McConnell that he would not veto the bipartisan Toomey/Manchin bill. Pat Toomey’s office on Aug. 5 issued the following statementย from Senators Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.):

โ€œThis morning, we both separately discussed with President Trump our support for passing our bipartisan legislation to strengthen background checks to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, the dangerously mentally ill, and terrorists while respecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners and all Americans. The president showed a willingness to work with us on the issue of strengthening background checks.โ€
