To the editor:
With the Presidential primary campaigns underway, New Hampshire again has the opportunity to speak loudly in the national news.
One of the best known spokespersons from our part of the state raised the issue of campaign finance reform to prominence during her 3,200-mile walk across America when she was in her nineties at the end of the Millennium.
Granny D’s dedication to strengthening our democracy remains an inspiration for citizens of all ages to voice our concerns over how our nation chooses its leaders.
This year a non-partisan throng will begin commemorating the 20th anniversary of Granny D’s famous trek by walking from her former home in Dublin to Depot Square in Peterborough on Saturday, Aug. 3.
I look forward to music and lunch at the end of the walk, highlighted by stories from some of Granny Ds friends, and from my Monadnock Region neighbors who share Granny D’s vision to seek a better democracy.
