The Antrim Fire Department extracted a six-year-old girl from a tree after she refused to come down on Saturday evening.
Firefighters arrived at 80 Reed Carr Rd. around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday to find the girl in a hemlock tree about 60 feet into the woods. Fire Chief Marshall Gale said the girl had climbed to the top of the tree with her brother, but became scared halfway down and refused to climb any further.
โShe was still about 25 feet up in the tree,โ he said on Monday.
Gale said one of Antrimโs firefighters also works as a chimney sweep, and easily climbed up to keep the girl calm as the rest of the crew threaded a ground ladder into the branches to get her down.
โShe was a pretty good trooper through all of it,โ Gale said, and was happy to be back on the ground. There were no injuries.
