NH Fish and Game has identified the hiker injured on Mount Monadnock on Monday afternoon as a 79-year-old Hancock man.
Hank Huber suffered an injury near the summit of Mount Monadnock and had to be taken by helicopter to Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH Fish and Game Sgt. Delayne Brown said Tuesday.
โThanks to fellow hikers and two members of the Monadnock State Park staff who were able to get up really quick, they were able to transport him a short distance [to the summit],โ Brown said. โFrom what Iโm told, Mount Monadnock is the second-most climbed mountain in the world. In situations like this, you have to be thankful for that.โ
Brown was unable to provide any specifics about Huberโs injury.
A DHART helicopter was immediately called to the scene to get Huber off the mountain. It was determined by a DHART paramedic that Huber would be flown directly to Manchester, Brown said.
