A Manchester man was killed in a motor vehicle crash on Route 101 in Peterborough early Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to Route 101 in the area of Condy Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash. The driver and sole occupant, Jason D. Hart, 30, of Manchester, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Peterborough Police Saturday.
Police said Hart was driving westbound in a 2012 Chrysler sedan, when the Chrysler crossed the center line, left the roadway and struck a tree.
There are no witnesses to the crash, which was reported by a passing motorist after the fact, Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said Monday.
โWe have not concluded why he left the road, and I donโt want to speculate at this point,โ Guinard said.
Hart was a full-time employee of Teen Challenge, a Christian faith-based nonprofit drug and alcohol treatment facility in Manchester.
โWe wonโt be the same without him, for sure,โ Teen Challenge assistant director Hector Andujar said Monday.
Hart became involved with Teen Challenge in 2015 when he participated in their 15-month addiction treatment program. After graduating the program, he did a six-month apprenticeship for the organization, before being hired full-time to help those involved with the program to keep to their curriculum and to do outreach to local schools and community events.
โHeโs been a vital piece of our team,โ Anujar said. โHeโs the guy known to do whatever we ask. There was nothing he wouldnโt do to jump in and help out.โ
Guinard said police plan to conduct interviews this week to determine Hartโs last 24 hours, to try to determine if there was a potential cause to the crash, such as fatigue or illness.
Route 101 was shut down for about two hours while police processed the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
Police are asking anyone with any information about the crash to call 924-8050.
