A Jaffrey man was injured in a snowmobile crash in Marlow Saturday.

Fish and Game, state police and Marlow Fire and EMS responded to the single snowmobile crash Saturday around 9:30 a.m. in Marlow between Route 10 and Old Newport Road.

Andrew Thayer, 32, of Jaffrey was crossing Route 10 when his snowmobile hit a snowbank. Thayer then pushed the throttle on his snowmobile causing the machine to crash into a nearby tree, Fish and Game said in a press release.

A call to 911 was made and Thayer was taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene evaluation and treatment. Fish and Game said no further information is available at this time.

โ€œA preliminary investigation suggests operator inexperience and inattention to be the primary factors contributing to the crash,โ€ Fish and Game said.

Fish and Game said as a reminder to all snowmobilers that the close of the season as winter thaws can be hazardous and all riders should be cautious. โ€œAs the snowmobile season begins to come to a close, riders are reminded that as snow melts it creates more hazards in the trail. A trail may change drastically throughout the day as temperatures warm up.โ€
