Board of Selectmen

(three-year term)

C. Christopher Guiry

Age: 70

Years in town: 27

Previous elected offices: Selectman and School board

Other qualifications: Retired Army Officer/ Practicing Dentist

What are two issues you think are important and how would you address them?: Emergency Management- A comprehensive plan needs to be designed for extreme weather and natural disasters. Mason has been well served by group efforts and committees in the past. Police station, renovation and design of the school complex for example. A comprehensive plan to deal with extreme weather and other natural occurrences would enhance safety and prevent loss of life.

Transparency and Consensus by the governing body. Minimize the use of nonpublic meeting time and expand public comment time to ensure all have an appropriate amount of time to express views in a civil environment at selectmanโ€™s meetings.

William (Bill) Fritz

Years living in town: 10 yrs in Mason, Milford and Francestown, previous

Previous elected office held: Chairman, Mason ZBA

Other qualifications: engineer, businessman, former Army officer

What are two issues you think are important and how would you address them?: Key issues in Mason are the roads, many of them dirt, and taxes. Obviously, these are directly linked, and will require careful consideration by the townspeople over possible, and desired, solutions.

Previously Elected Offices: Financial Advisory Committee Member 2008-2009,ย Mason Select Board 2011-2014

Other Qualifications: Leadership, organizational skills and decision making as a senior executive in business over the last 30 years. (Retired) Graduate of Selectmanโ€™s college, Antioch University 2011.ย Seminar of Administrative Decisions in Planning and Zoning (Antioch University 2010)

What are the two issues you think are important and how would you address them?: The development of a Capital Expenditure Plan and the formation of a Capital Campaign for the Town Hall.

A Capital Expenditure Plan is needed for all town vehicles (Fire, Police, Highway) , town buildings and equipment to be able to plan on the replacement of these items as needed. We should establish an expected โ€œlife Cycleโ€ for each item and plan on the amount of money needed to replace each item as needed. This would include inventories of all items, age, type and expected life span.

The town has just received a completed detailed engineering study on the Town Hall. The estimate is around $200,000.00 to repair and fix all items. I propose creating a Capital Fund Drive to start soliciting money from town people and organizations to help complete the repairs.

Mission:ย Focused on common sense leadership while preserving the towns rural character. It is important to listen and be transparent with voters. My mission is to work with other board members and town employees to achieve consensus in decisions that are good for the entire town and not just one special interest or group.
