TEAM Jaffrey is making a few changes to the formula for this year’s Riverfest, taking place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Jaffrey.
This year they plan to feature more activities for people of all ages, TEAM Jaffrey Executive Director Stephanie Niemela said, including a rock climbing wall, laser tag, an escape room and more.
“We’re changing things up a bit this year to create more of a festival,” Niemela said. “We are hoping for more family fun for everyone.”
In addition to a number of new activities, Niemela said, old classics like the corn shuck contest is to return. There will also be food and vendors like previous years.
This year’s Riverfest will be Jurassic Park themed, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the classic film and the latest film in the franchise Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Niemela said the theme came easily after the success of having replica vehicles and props from the Back to the Future franchise at the Breakfast with Superheroes event in 2017.
The owner of the Back to the Future replica DeLorean and other equipment told Niemela he also had replicas of the #12 Jeep Wrangler and the Ford Explorer XLT that he would be willing to bring up for a subsequent event.
“That became the basis for the whole event,” Niemela said.
Mike Rousseau is to perform music and DJ throughout the event and magician Chris Lengyel will also be there to dazzle the crowd, Niemela said.
There will also be dinosaur egg decorating with Art Happens and trackless train rides from the Roaming Railroad.
