Newport came into Friday’s game against Mascenic with just one win and did little to change that, as the Vikings won handily, 65-43. Despite shooting just 37 percent from the floor, Mascenic won going away, thanks in large part to Brett Stauffeneker’s big night. Stauffeneker scored a game-high 25, with 11 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. Daimon Gibson scored 12 with 6 rebounds; DJ Turner also scored 12 and Sammy Stauffeneker scored 11.

Mascenic (5-3) had their game against Monadnock (6-2) pushed from Monday to tonight at 7 p.m. The Huskies have only lost to Franklin — a one-point game — and undefeated Hopkinton, while handing losses to Stevens and ConVal, both of whom beat Mascenic this season.
