Trey Carrier needed a big scoring night to reach the vaunted 1,000-point milestone on Friday night; fortunately for him and his Warrior teammates, that’s just what he does.

Carrier entered the night needing 39 points to hit 1,000, not a sure thing, but with middling Nute as the opponent and a slate of road games the following week, Friday night was the night. He was up to the task.

Carrier dropped 40 points before exiting the game with 1,001 career and plenty more to come this season. He became the first Warrior since Jordan Litts (2015) to hit that benchmark; Litts did so on his way to Player of the Year honors and a state title for WLC, back in Carrier’s sophomore year.

WLC won the game 97-31. After the game, the level-headed Carrier said just what coach Leo Gershgorin wanted to hear: “The W is all that matters, coach.”

Aside from Carrier’s big night, the rest of the Warriors played well. Senior Sean McClure scored 27, freshman Jack Schwab put in 12 and Jacob Yurcak scored 10.

Wilton-Lyndeborough (2-5) travels to Mascenic (5-3) Wednesday at 7 p.m. Mascenic beat WLC 65-58 last week.
