The town’s planning board meetings are being pushed up an hour earlier, according to a notice sent out to the public via email.

The start time of all meetings will change from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m., a change that will go into effect at its next meeting on Jan. 9. It’s a decision that was made per order of the Greenfield Planning Board and will remain in place until further notice, the release says.

Chair Paul Renaud said the decision to move meeting times an hour earlier was unanimous between all members of the board.

“I personally am looking forward to having an earlier start time so that we can have an earlier adjournment,” Renaud said. “Sometimes our meetings run until 10 p.m. or 10:30 p.m. and people get tired and when that happens little things can start slipping through the cracks.”

Renaud said at its next meeting the board will hold a public hearing at the town office to consider 15 amendments to the town’s zoning ordinance. He said it’s unclear how many people will show up for the hearing, but last year the board discussed seven amendments and the meeting ran until 12:30 a.m.

Those changes were more substantial than the ones in discussion this year, but he said an earlier start time could help alleviate such a long meeting this year.
