A local man faces a court summons related to a car accident in Massachusetts last week.

On Monday, Dec. 19, the 58-year old from Mason was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Main Street in Pepperell, Massachusetts after he drifted across the double-yellow line and hit an oil tanker truck head-on, according to John Guilfoil, a spokesman for the Pepperell Police Department.

The Mason resident was driving a Ford F-350 at the time of the accident.

Massachusetts state law prohibits releasing the names of charged subjects until they have appeared in court.

โ€œWe canโ€™t name someone if theyโ€™re summoned for court until they actually go to court,โ€ Guilfoil said.

The Mason resident was transported to Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Massachusetts, and the oil truck driver was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, both with non-life-threatening injuries, Guilfoil said.

He was charged with negligent operation and lane violation and will have to appear in Middlesex Country District Court.
