Dublin’s Select Board made two changes in the town’s transfer station policies at its meeting on Monday. The station will be open on Sundays indefinitely and stickers will now need to be replaced every two years.

The board discussed both matters with Transfer Station Superintendent Tom Kennedy during its meeting. The transfer station will remain open on its normal hours on Wednesday and Saturday in addition to Sundays. Transfer station stickers will need to be replaced in 2018.

“I think its a great idea to run the stickers we have now through 2018,” said Selectman Sturdy Thomas.

Selectmen agreed to give transfer station employee DaoNing Wang a one-time payment of $750 in recognition of her hard work and dedication to the town. The board agreed to the payment as a way to adjust for a new employee temporarily having a higher pay rate than Wang’s.

“I think we need to start looking at all salaries in town,” said Select Board Chair Walt Snitko. The board also discussed trying to find a better way to determine salary adjustments every year.

The board also agreed to withdraw a $7,698 warrant article to install surveillance cameras at the transfer station. Kennedy told the board that the Recycling Committee determined it would be too much money.

Town Administrator Sherry Miller told the board that the town’s proposed operating budget is up about two percent over last year. Miller said that “good savings” were offset by rising cost areas like ambulance, retirement for police officers, and health insurance – all mandatory cost increases.

Miller also told the board that Eversource has agreed to cut down a tree on Upper Jaffrey Road. There are concerns about the tree, as it is currently leaning on telephone wires.
