Two members of Highbridge Hill Elementary School competed at the USATF Junior Olympic National Championships on Dec. 10, in Hoover, Alabama.
Logan Lucas and Jacob Crawford, members of the Granite State Flash 9 – 10 boys team, qualified for the National Championship by being scoring members of the team that finished in the top five to move on to Alabama. There the team finished 14th out of 28 teams. Lucas finished 225th and Crawford finished 265th out of 341 competitors.
For Lucas, this was his second trip to Nationals, having run two years ago in Myrtle Beach. For Crawford this was his first trip to Nationals, not qualifying last year. Both boys run as part of the elementary school running club and the Valhalla Youth Racing team.
They train with about 10 other athletes under the supervision of Mike Smith, the Mascenic cross-country coach, as part of the Granite State Flash.
