Each year on the weekend after Thanksgiving, Summerhill has a big holiday party for all their residents. This year’s party had over 200 guests attend, including a visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus, some of his elves, Rudolph and Frosty.

This year, the party’s theme kept with the classic and festive, “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

Summerhill held smaller parties for its memory care residents this week. While some of them and their families attend the large party Santa – played by Owen Houghton of Jaffrey – and his friends – Summerhill staff – also make a second trip down to Summerhill to visit the memory care residents while they ate lunch, with frosting-stuffed Gingerbread men for dessert and an exchange of gifts.

“The big party can get a little overwhelming, so this is a lot more relaxed,” said Jean Kundert of Summerhill’s Community Relations.

Summerhill is an assisted living facility based in Peterborough, including supports for residents with dementia or Alzheimers.
