New Hampshire towns have many complex issues to deal with on a daily basis, and forest laws are no exception. The UNH Cooperative Extension and its partners are again offering a workshop for municipal officials and volunteers to help them better understand various laws focused on forestry practices.
This yearโs workshop will be held on Dec. 14 at the Salisbury Town Hall. The workshop is free, but registration is required. More details and a registration page can be found at http://bit.ly/2016ForestLaws.
Karen Bennett, forestry specialist with Cooperative Extension, said, โThis is a valuable workshop for new town officials and employees, as well as a refresher course for those that have been around for a while.โ Participants will hear state officials discuss topics including timber tax and intent-to-cut forms, wetlands regulations, forestry notification, forest harvest laws, roads and more. There will be a field trip in the afternoon to a recently completed timber sale to learn what is and isnโt in compliance.ย
