A New Hampshire state police officer said the investigation of a threat directed at a Greenfield Elementary School staff member that lead to the cancellation of school on Friday is ongoing.
“I really didn’t have much information to prove or disprove what my findings were after speaking with the source of where the threat was made,” Kieran Fagan, State Police Trooper II, said in an email sent on Saturday.
Fagan said the investigation should be wrapped up in a few days.
State Police Lt. Nathan Noyes said the investigation is personal in nature and not tied to the school directly. “There was no concern for anyone at the school,” he said Saturday.
ConVal said classes will not be held this week in observance of Thanksgiving, but staff members at Greenfield Elementary School did report to work on Monday as scheduled.
The school made a decision to cancel school Friday after the threat had been made.
“After consulting with law enforcement, we took the precaution of dismissing students for the day to ensure their safety and the safety of staff,” Superintendent Kimberly Saunders said in a press release issued Friday.
Once the decision to cancel school was made, buses filled with students headed to school were diverted from their regular routes and redirected to Oak Park. Parents received a school messenger alert, which informed them of the situation and provided direction on how to pick up their children.
Students who were not picked up by 9:30 a.m. were transported to the Francestown Elementary School.
“At this time we believe that all of our students and all of our staff are safe and that the building is safe and secure,” Saunders said Friday morning, adding the staff member who received the threat was also safe.
Saunders said the district is working closely with law enforcement officials as they conduct their investigation.
A member of the Greenfield Police Department said the department did respond to the call, but could not release any information about the case.
There was a meeting for parents at the Greenfield Elementary School Monday night at 6:30.
