A new nonprofit offering drug and alcohol prevention initiatives, treatment referrals, and recovery support will hold an open house next week.
Reality Check, a Jaffrey-based organization, will host its open house on Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at its location at 21 Goodnow St.
“It’s thrilling. I’ve had so much support so far,” said Mary Drew, Reality Check CEO and president. “We will be successful as long as we work together as a community and a region.”
Reality Check provides a number of services to the community, including: drug and alcohol prevention education and prevention plan development for school districts and communities; supported referrals to drug and alcohol detox services, medication-assisted treatment, and residential treatment; support to earn a GED or college degree with minimal student loans; scholarships and support to become an addictions professional.
Reality Check recently received a $625,000 Drug-Free Community (DFC) grant from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy to help prevent substance abuse among youth K-12 in the Jaffrey-Rindge and ConVal school districts.
Drew said Reality Check hopes to ramp up in the near future to open a recovery community center in town, which she hopes will happen next year.
Drew said she is currently scoping out a few properties in town.
