Emma Albertini of New Boston and her mount My Rikki were named the overall winners of the Brandon Garabrant Memorial Equitation Challenge hosted by Touchstone Farm on Saturday.
The Garabrant Challenge is named for Lance Cpl. Brandon Garabrant, a ConVal grad and Marine who was killed by a roadside bomb while serving in Afghanistan in 2015. Garabrant worked at Touchstone Farm during high school.
There are four challenges held over the course of the year, and the final winner is named after tallying points from all four shows. Five dollars from every entry into the class is donated to the Brandon Garabrant Memorial Scholarship Fund at ConVal High School.
Albertini also took first place in the individual Garabrant Challenge event on Saturday, before being named the winner for the season.
On Saturday, the placements of the Garabrant Challenge were as follows:
First: Emma Albertini on My Rikki
Second: Catherine Mikkelsen on Benevolent
Third: Nicole Bartlett on Kiddo
Fourth: Piper Vogel on Slick
The year-end results of the challenge are as follows:
First: Emma Albertini
Second: Nicole Bartlett
Third: Catherine Mikkelsen
Fourth: Livy Collins
Fifth: Piper Vogel
Sixth: Abby Ayotte
The winner is awarded a memorial plate, as well as a trophy that will be engraved with their name and be passed to next yearโs winner.
