Residents are invited to a candidate forum featuring state candidates for the House and Senate in the Monadnock region.
Advocates Building Lasting Equality, or ABLE, a nonprofit which advocates for children and adults with disabilities, is hosting the event, which will be held at the Keene Public Library on Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
To date, candidates for state Senate Jay Kahn and Peggy Gilmore and candidates for state House of Representatives Peter Leishman, Gary Carpenter, Richard Ames, and Richard McNamara have confirmed attendance.
The event will have a focus on questions related to the defense and advancement of rights of people who experience disabilities, and the policies and programs that support them.
“People who experience disabilities represent nearly 20 percent of America’s citizenry,” reads a press release issued by ABLE. “People who experience developmental disabilities are at particular risk for poor health outcomes, poverty, homelessness, lower rates of education, employment, and in general have a difficult time accessing the American dream.”
The candidates forum will be held at the Keene Public Library on Nov. 1 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
