Alltown Gas could potentially open within a few weeks.
After originally planning a grand opening for early this summer, the Mobil gas station and market on Route 202 South in Peterborough may be ready to open by November, according to Town Administrator Rodney Bartlett.
The delay was caused by conflict over widening the road to add a left-turn lane into the market from Route 202. To widen the road and install an easement for plows to push snow and debris will require moving the TD Bank parking lot across the street back about seven feet.
The easement and additional turning lane are being required by the state’s Department of Transportation. Because the original site plan did not anticipate this requirement, the project was more extensive than planned.
“The conflict between lane widening and the required permanent maintenance easement has been resolved,” Bartlett said. “Hopefully we’ll see a resolution soon.”
