The River Center will be sponsoring a variety of events during October

A weekly MeetUp for job seekers will be held on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. (drop-ins welcome). And for those looking for a job, but who struggle with computers and emails, an employment specialist will provide a guide through the online job search process every second and fourth Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. Internet access and computers will be available. The employment specialist will also be at the Peterborough Town Library from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 28 and Oct. 19 and Chamberlin Public Library in Greenville on Oct. 4 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Students ages 11 to 14 who are interested in babysitting may attend a Safe Sitter babysitting training on Oct. 10 (Columbus Day) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. In this one-day program, students will learn basic first aid, how to care for a choking infant, personal safety for the sitter, how to care for children (feeding, diapering, etc.), behavior management, babysitting as a business, and more. The fee is $65 per student.

On Oct. 18, a new series, Tuesday Topics, kicks off with โ€œThe Apparent Connectionโ€ with Terri Hamilton, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Bonnie Harrisโ€™s parent support group, โ€œTeens and Tweens,โ€ runs on Tuesdays, Oct. 4 through Feb. 14, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The group will learn how to apply the principles of connective parenting to maintain a strong and balanced relationship throughout the rest of a childโ€™s developing years.

Part two of Wendy Hillโ€™s program โ€œIs This Normal Behavior?โ€ will run on Wednesdays from Oct. 19 to Nov. 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will deepen their understanding of their childrenโ€™s temperaments through experience and observation and create the environment and strategies which best support them.
