Capitalizing on short fields throughout the night thanks to the defense, the Franklin Pierce University sprint football team used three touchdowns from sophomore tailback Tyler Zech to put together a 24-6 win over Post in Collegiate Sprint Football League play at Sodexo Field on Saturday night. The game was the season opener for both teams, as well as the annual Talon Cup matchup between the two schools.

With the win, Franklin Pierce opens the 2016 campaign at 1-0, while Post falls to 0-1. It marked the fourth straight Talon Cup victory for the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce picked up 135 rushing yards, on a staggering 56 carries, but went just 4-for-17 for 11 yards through the air. Meanwhile, Post rushed the ball 16 times, netting -4 yards, but went 18-for-41 through the air for 136 yards, though the Eagles threw a pair of interceptions long the way.

Defensively, junior Ryan Becerra led the Ravens with eight tackles (five solo), including 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.

The Ravens return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 24, when they remain home to host Navy. Opening kickoff is set for noon at Sodexo Field.
