New England Patriots cheerleaders are coming to the Shattuck Golf Club in Jaffrey on Sept. 23 to raise money for Kitty Rescue and Adoption.
For $85, registered golfers will receive 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, and lunch, as well as a goodie bag with items from participating sponsors. There will also be a $25,000 putting contest and a $10,000 Hole-in-One contest.
“We want to try to reach as many people as possible to raise funds for our shelter,” said Kitty Rescue founder Heidi Bourgeois. “We need to raise $500,000 by the end of the year, or there is a chance that some of our cats could become homeless.”
Patriots cheerleaders will be on site from 1:30 to 3:30 to take pictures. There will also be a number of raffles and other giveaways.
The no-kill cat sanctuary, a 501-c3 run completely by volunteers, is working to purchase a property and construct a new shelter after being told they must leave their current property on Plantation Drive at the end of the year.
Kitty Rescue took in 156 cats and adopted out 186 last year. Over 100 cats have already found a home this year through Kitty Rescue.
“With less than four months left, we are looking into other options, such as renting a space,” said Bourgeois. “Our goal at this point is not to close our doors.”
Bourgeois said that if they had to close, many of the adoptable cats could be sent to other adoption agencies, but the feral population wouldn’t draw much interest, leading to a tough situation for the shelter.
