Richard Marold will portray President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in a living history program on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Greenfield Town Meetinghouse.
Roosevelt was elected president four times, more than any man in U.S. history. Although born and raised in a privileged New York family, he became a spokesman for the average American. After 1921 he was unable to walk on his own because of polio, but he later brought the country back to its feet after the Great Depression.
Marold has appeared as FDR more than 260 times, both in his home state of Colorado and before educational, professional and convention groups nationwide. He holds a Masterโs Degree in humanities from Penn State University.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Friends of the Stephenson Memorial Library.
The program will be sponsored by the Stephenson Memorial Library, as part of the NEA Big Read, which is a partnership with Fireseed Alliance with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, Arts Midwest, and New Hampshire Humanities. Local sponsors are The Greenfield Inn and the Crotched Mountain Foundation.
