The town of Jaffrey is soliciting public comments to help shape its revision of its master plan.

Two public comment sessions will be held at the Jaffrey fire station on Friday: one from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and one from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. During these sessions, public comments will be taken and later used to help shape a community character chapter in the ongoing master plan update.

“We wanted to take a step back and see how the community sees itself,” said Planning & Economic Development Director Jo Anne Carr.

Carr said the town has been working on community outreach since June, which included a townwide mailer, a survey, reaching out to the community at public events, and more.

The town’s master plan was last updated in 2007. State law recommends that master plans are updated every 10 years.

After comments are solicited and a draft of the community character chapter are complete, the draft will be reviewed by the Planning Board. After that, and the competition of a vision statement, the rest of the master plan will be revised accordingly.

Carr said there will be more opportunities to offer input on specific chapters at future meetings.

Carr said the town has made a Facebook page – accessible through the town’s website – and that she hopes to hold a Facebook Live session to allow for additional comment.
