Dividingour community

To the editor:

No matter what falsehoods the leadership of Peterborough’s Unitarian Universalist Church tells the public about its reasoning to put the Black Lives Matter banner back up for display, those who have a brain and Google know how out of touch they really are. The church leadership should come clean about their true motivations on why they are trying to divide our community.

NBC News has published the Black Lives Matter manifesto and the group is calling for reparations and an independent political system. This is nothing more than a money grab and a usurping of our Constitution.

The number of police officers who have been murdered so far this year is up 44 percent from last year. These heroes and their sacrifices are what should be honored, not an organization that wants to overthrow our government and enrich themselves through division. We will not advance as a society if groups continue to try divide and conquer us.

I know my comments will not change the minds of the church leaders, but their attempt at dividing our community should not go unchallenged. All lives matter.
