Mikey Martel made a furious run to the finish to force a playoff against his fellow Mascenic alum Damon Salo and win the NHGA Stroke Play tournament at Concord’s Beaver Meadow Wednesday.
Martel shot seven-under on the day — including three straight birdies to finish his final round — and caught Damon, who was in the clubhouse in first place at -6 overall (282). In the playoff round, Damon had a chance to win the title with a birdie putt, but it lipped out. On the third playoff hole, Martel tapped in for par and Damon just missed.
Cameron Salo of New Ipswich finished in 4th at -2.
