Jacques Savoie, 54, of Hudson died in a boating accident in Sunday, Aug. 7, on the Pemigewasset River in New Hampton.

Savoie was the husband of Mason Elementary School’s school chef, Deborah “Chef Deb” Holland-Savoie.

The report says the couple was boating on the Pemigewasset River when Savoie went into the water to retrieve on of his dogs, which had leapt from the boat.

According to police, he began struggling and was unable to grab a life vest before going under.

The cause of death was determined to be drowning, after his body was retrieved by divers Monday morning, police said.

Mason Elementary School asks the community to offer respect and sympathy for Chef Deb and her family.

In an email, it says, “Please keep her in your thoughts as she deals with the loss of her beloved husband and best friend.”
