Volunteers hope the new playground at Dublin Consolidated School will be completed at a work day on Aug. 13, just in time for the upcoming school year.
The plan to replace the existing decades-old playground has been in development for about a year and a half, with the parent-teacher organization raising funds and partnering with other municipal groups.
“The fundraising is done and the playground is ordered,” Emily Bennett, PTO treasurer and chair of the playground committee, said.
On the community build day, she says they will need about 35 people, and at least 27 have already signed up. Dublin Road Agent Brian Barden will level the ground, and the ConVal School District is responsible for removing the old equipment before then.
A representative from O’Brien & Sons New England Playground Equipment will be there to guide volunteers on the build day.
“We are going to start on that day and hopefully finish on that day,” Bennett said, though the work may spill into Sunday.
The first day of school at DCS will be Aug. 30.
