The town of Jaffrey is applying for a grant to support the development of a senior housing development at the former St. Patrick School property.

The Jaffrey Select Board will hold a public hearing on July 11 to garner comments on a Community Block Grant proposal.

The majority of the grant, up to $500,000 would be sub-granted to Southwestern Community Services, who would use the funding for acquisition and site work associated with the development of a 24 unit senior housing complex, which would be named Mountainside Senior Living.

During the public hearing, there will also be a review and adoption of the town’s housing and community development plan and the residential antidisplacement and relocation plan.

Southwestern Community Services is also scheduled to meet with the town’s Planning Board on July 12, for a site plan review.

If all is approved through the town, Southwestern Community Services would purchase the parking lot portion of the St. Patrick School site from St. Patrick Parish. The remaining land, which includes the school building and the stonehouse, would remain with the parish.

Community Development Block Grants are awarded on a competitive basis for housing, public facilities, and development projects that have primary benefit to low and moderate-income people.
