Jim Grant of Peterborough, known for his volunteer efforts and community involvement, also has been at the forefront of many nationwide efforts to improve education working through Staff Development for Educators (SDE), a company he founded that now offers seminars across the country.
Grant will make an appearance at the Toadstool Bookshop on Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m. to discuss two books he has written.
“What Gritty Kids Do When No One Is Looking” is a picture book for children, and “Grit to Go” offers classroom-ready resources to motivate growth mindsets.
One of his current efforts is promoting a mindset of “grit.” He believes teachers who instill the attitude “I can try harder” can help create tenacious, hard-working students. A student with grit is a student who is resilient, persistent, determined, and has the will to overcome obstacles, often against difficult odds, to achieve success.
This event is free and open to the public.
