“Summer at the Pines,” a new summer-long entertainment program, will be held at the Cathedral of the Pines beginning June 23.
Education and appreciation of the arts is a primary focus of this family-friendly series. Guests are invited to bring picnics and walk the grounds.
The first program of the series on Thursday, June 23, will feature the folk music group Decatur Creek with musicians Doug Farrell, Steve Dionne, and Jack Carlton.
The Cathedral will host Abraham and Mary Lincoln, historical re-enactors, on July 14.
The Vidari Quartet, classical musicians from the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in Nelson, will play on July 28.
Wendy Keith and Her Alleged Band, another folk music group, will perform on Aug. 18.
Folklorist and balladeer Jeff Warner will close out the series on Sept. 1.
Each program will take place on a Thursday evening from 7 to 8:15 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults with children under 12 admitted for free. In keeping with the cathedral’s policy, no alcohol will served or allowed.
Tickets will be available at the door. In case of rain, the program will be held inside at the Hilltop House.
The Cathedral of the Pines is a nationally recognized memorial dedicated to the memory and honor of all Americans who serve the nation in search of peace, and is open to the public as a place of spiritual, cultural, and environmental appreciation.
