The Sargent Center in Hancock will host an open house this weekend, giving interested patrons an opportunity to view one of the Monadnock region’s hidden gems.

1-4 p.m. Saturday

The open house – located at 36 Sargent Camp Road – will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and last until 4.

Attendees will be able to tour the grounds, paddle canoes, learn about primitive skills, try the climbing wall, and go on photo hikes.

“We are looking forward to connecting with the local community,” said Kobe Biederman, Adventure Camp and Conference Director at the Sargent Center.

“I’ve met a lot of locals who have come here for the first time and didn’t know we were here.”

A lot to offer

Biederman says the property has a lot to offer: 700 acres of land, 20 miles of hiking trails, a lake, sleeping space for 180 guests, a 15 acre field, and eight places where people can camp on site.

The Sargent Center hosts a number of camps, weddings, retreats, and more.

“We want to use this event as a way to invite new camp families and build interest in the Sargent Center,” said Biederman. “We’re also connecting the event to the Friends of Sargent, which is our nonprofit affiliate that is looking for membership.”

Weekend-long event

In addition to the free Open House, Sargent Center is taking registration for a Friends of Sargent Weekend from June 3 to June 5 with two-night or all-day stays available.
