The ConVal RockHounds defeated the ConVal Tin Caps 9-4 in Cal Ripken Minor League play Friday in Peterborough.
After Zach Pease got the side in order in the top of the first, the Tin Caps jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the inning thanks to a double from Brady Carpentiere that drove in two and an RBI single from Owen Lawson-Sprately. Brodie Demarais pitched two strong innings, striking out two. Great defensive plays by the Tin Caps held the Rock Hounds to one run over the final three innings.
RockHoundโs Aidan Learn started out the bottom of the first with a great flyout catch in center field, followed by Meric Grenier pushing through the order and striking out two.
The top of the second saw singles hit by Meric, Matthew Palmer, Kaiden Bateman, and Jack Harris, as well as aggressive base running by all, including Hannah Hardwick, Jason Way Jr., and Aidan, taking the RockHounds into the lead 4-3.
Kaiden Bateman pitched a strong three innings, striking out eight, and diving to catch a pop up to claim his ninth out.
The top of those innings saw RockHoundโs singles hit by Stephen Simard and Meric, as well as a double hit by Kaiden that drove in two for 4 more runs, bringing the score to 8-3.
Ryan Tatro secured the final RockHound run of the game.
In the bottom of the final two innings, Jason turned in a strong performance assisting an out at first, followed by 5 strike outs. Strong support by Meric as catcher throughout the game also assisted in holding the Tin Caps to 4.
The ConVal Tin Caps defeated the ConVal Mets 6-5 in walk off fashion in Cal Ripken Minor League play Tuesday night in Hancock.
Daniel โHappy Gilmoreโ Patenaude came up with the big hit in the bottom of the sixth, driving in Beau Olesky with the winning run. Avery Steere started for the Tin Caps and worked out of a bases loaded jam in the first. Zach Pease pitched one inning and got the side in order.
The Mets lead 1-0 going into the fifth inning behind the strong pitching of Carter Rousseau and the great defensive play of David Murray and Garrett Rousseau. The Tin Caps plated 5 runs on a series of walks in the bottom of the fifth.
In the sixth inning, the Rousseau brothers each singled, Liam Manuel was hit by a pitch and Kai Reitnauerโs infield sacrifice plated the tying run.
