Town officials and Dublin School are looking to partner up to connect more trails in town.

Select Board chair Sturdy Thomas told the board Monday of a meeting that took place earlier in the day involving himself and school Headmaster Brad Bates. According to Thomas, Bates was hoping to further the relationship between the town and school.

โ€œA lot of this discussion was conceptual,โ€ said Thomas. โ€œThey have a world class cross country ski trail up there. We talked about creating an environment that could lead people to come to Dublin for a day trip.โ€

Thomas said that at a minimum, he would love to get all of the trails in town mapped and connected, so that interested parties could ski, walk, or snow shoes the many trails in Dublin. Thomas said some of the conceptual discussions entailed creating a rental shop near the trails so that people could have more access.

The board will start to work with the various parties involved to determine how the town and school can best interconnect and map out the trails. There was also talk about seeing if Dublin Consolidated School wanted to be included.

The Board met with Town Clerk/Tax Collector Jeannine Dunne, who has been researching air conditioning and heating units for her office.

Dunne showed the board a unit that would have to be installed in the wall, and would offer both heating and cooling. Dunne said the unit cost $579.99 not including installation costs.

Selectman Paul Delphia said he would do further research to see what unit would work best and how the town could get the best deal. Dunne said the town has to be careful, as the Department of Labor has very specific criteria about air conditioners.

โ€œWe canโ€™t have a standard window unit, because of the records kept in the office,โ€ said Dunne. Because of the various records stored in the office, there cannot be any unit that could be popped out of the window from the outside, especially during non-business hours.

The board gave Town Administrator Sherry Miller authority to negotiate fuel prices for the town.

The board meeting started at the transfer station, where the board participated in a site walk with Superintendent Tom Kennedy.
