Thanks, volunteers

To the editor:

Greenfield had another successful Roadside Roundup on April 30, bringing in more than 150 bags of trash. This event relies on a large number of volunteers and the Greenfield Conservation Commission would like to thank everyone who participated.

Many residents in town helped clean up our roadsides and were rewarded with a ham and bean dinner hosted by the Greenfield Womanโ€™s Club. This year we offered cash prizes to children who brought in the most bags of trash. We had eight children and their families participate, hauling a grand total of 18 bags of trash. Amazing job!

We were mightily impressed by the hard work of these young people. To help us prepare for the Roundup, the GIVers once again provided the labor hours needed to prepare our advance mailing and to set up the meeting house for the dinner. And thank you to town employees Catherine Shaw and Carol Burgess.
